CATHOLIC FAITH FORMATION FOR CHILDREN OUTSIDE OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS BEGINS at 6:30 PM on September 11, 2017. This gathering is for both CFF children and their families. The focus of CFF is on living and learning Jesus in our lives and worship. Participating in CFF and celebrating the Sunday Eucharist with the bigger Church family helps deepen Catholic faith and sacramental living, and gives strength and courage to witness Catholic faith beyond the Church doors and into the world created in love by God.

Generous catechists and a good program companion parents and young people on their faith journey. Eighth graders celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation in March 2018 will meet Sunday evenings starting September 17th for 2 hours – for “every-other-week” sessions from 5:30 – 7:30 pm in the Sullivan House across the parking lot from the Parish Center. Those children in 2nd grade prepared to receive Jesus in the Sacrament of Holy Communion will receive a readiness program. Children will also prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent.

For all Families at St. Joseph who have children between k-8th grades and who are not attending a Catholic School, Catholic Faith Formation is provided. Kids in CFF receive consistent and systematic weekly sessions with a commissioned Catechist. For more information on CFF, Call or contact Sr. Mary Ellen Backes at the parish office.

St. Joseph Church Musicians Record CD

On one spiritual, motivational and magical night of August 2010, 14 vocalists and instrumentalists gathered together at St. Joseph’s Church, with the hope of capturing the inspirational sounds heard each week at Mass.  On that night, original compositions by Paul H. Johnson, Director of Music, were performed by the St. Joseph choir and musicians and were recorded.  Based mostly on the Psalms, the result is a cd that is a compilation of original music sung in liturgies at St. Joseph Church.  The cd is available from the church (St. Joseph Church, 1345 North 6th St. Springfield, IL 62702), after Mass or by calling 303-5806.  The cost is $15.  The cd is titled ‘Faith Filled Musical Windows.’
